The Woodworth Fire Department will conduct fire hydrant flow-testing on July 9th through July 13th. During this activity, residents may experience temporary aesthetic discoloration or cloudiness in the water.

These flow checks are beneficial to citizens in multiple ways. Some of the most important benefits include:

  • Allowing the Fire Department to determine the amount of water that is available from an individual hydrant. This allows firefighters to determine if the closest hydrant is capable of flowing sufficient amounts of water to extinguish a fire at a given location.
  • Allowing “flushing” of debris and sediment from the water system. By flushing the hydrants, the sediment and debris is removed increasing water quality and reducing of the chances that this debris or sediment will cause damage to fire engines.
  • Allowing the Woodworth Fire Department and the Woodworth Utility System’s Water Department to locate any problems associated with our water distribution system.

The Woodworth Fire Department would like to thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Please, be patient with us during this operation as we are working to maintain the level of fire safety that you have come to expect.
