The Wild Azalea Trail has been designated a National Recreation Trail because of its outstanding scenic values.
The Wild Azalea Trail begins on Caster Plunge Road in Woodworth, Louisiana. Parking is available at the Woodworth Cemetery parking lot located on Caster Plunge Road.
Approximately 31 miles in length, the Wild Azalea Trail is designated for foot travel only. The entire trail can be hiked in 16 hours, however, State Highway 488 intersects around the midpoint. This allows for short, quick hikes for less experienced hikers and for those who don't have the time to make the longer hike. There are shelters, a recreation area for camping and drinking water facilities along the trail.
