Wild Azalea Trail

The Wild Azalea Trail has been designated a National Recreation Trail because of its outstanding scenic values.

The Wild Azalea Trail begins at Valentine Lake Recreation Area near Gardner, LA and ends on Castor Plunge Road/FS287 near Woodworth, Louisiana. Parking is available at the Wild Azalea Trailhead on Castor Plunge Road/FS287.

Approximately 31 miles in length, the Wild Azalea Trail is designated for both foot and bicycle travel. The entire trail can be hiked in 16 hours, however, State Highway 488 intersects around the midpoint. The additional parking areas located on FS273 and FS279 allows for short, quick hikes for less experienced hikers and for those who don’t have the time to make the longer hike. For more information refer to the Calcasieu Ranger District/Wild Azalea Brochure.
